In the forest, is a monster
It has done terrible things
So in the wood, it’s hiding
And this is the song it sings
Who will love me now?
Who will ever love me?
Who will say to me
“You are my desire, I set you free?”In the forest, is a monster
And it looks so very much like me
Will someone hear me singing?
Please save me, please rescue me
Dean shot up in bed, a silent scream caught in his throat. He could hear that voice, that voice screaming his name. That face imprinted in his memory, a flicker of something that haunted him every time he closed his eyes.
No matter how many times he told himself that it was Cas who let go, that he had tried his hardest. That he didn’t mean to. That there was no other option. It still stuck with him, it was still his own fault. He should have held on tighter, he should have done everything… He should have done more. He should have stayed behind.
The hunter stood and walked to the mirror to stare at his own unfamiliar features. He looked so different. In many ways he was stronger, and others so much less of the man he used to be. Who was he kidding, he was nothing like the man he used to be.
